Congratulations to Year 12 student and College Captain, Sam Campion, who is off to compete in the 2019 Class Clowns QLD State Finals! Sam was a part of a group of Mt Maria drama students who nominated themselves to perform at the Class Clowns qualifying heats this week.

Class Clowns is a national secondary school comedy competition run in conjunction with the Brisbane Comedy Festival and the Melbourne Interntaional Comedy Festival. With alumni including Joel Creasey, Rhys Nicholson, Aaron Chen and Tom Ballard, Class Clowns is truly a one-of-a-kind experience and a springboard to success. State Final winners will perform at the National Grand Final in Melbourne and go into the running to win a $2500 prize package.

Mt Maria's Acting Cultural Leader, Ms Lisa Rachow, said that Sam made the College proud with his hilarious stand up about the life of a school captain.

"The competition was tough from other schools, but our brave and talented students made the most out of their experience and all performed exceptionally well," Ms Rachow said.

"We are immensely proud of Sam and can't wait to hear more of his side-splitting humour on Sunday."

If you'd like to support Sam at the State Finals, the competition will be held at the Visy Theatre at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Sunday the 17th of March at 3pm. Tickets are available here.
