Music students shine online at Mt Maria College

Mt Maria College has been filled with music as Mt Maria Music students prepare for their very first virtual ensemble concert. Typically held at the end of each semester for College families, COVID-19 restrictions have meant the ensemble concert will be streamed online for families to enjoy in their own homes.

College ensembles of all musical levels are involved in the concert, with the event set to feature the Year 7 Beginner Band, Chamber Strings, Wind Band, Percussion Ensemble, and the College Choir.

While ensemble rehearsals have looked (and sounded!) very different this term, Music Program Leader, Ms Alex Khafagi, is confident the students are ready to shine online.

“The students have been rehearsing online and in person all term and are thrilled to be showcasing their hard work to the College community,” said Ms Khafagi.

Mt Maria Music has grown significantly over the last year, with now more than 200 students enrolled in the College’s Instrumental Program.

The College’s various ensembles regularly perform at community events and in local festivals, including the Queensland Catholic Schools & Colleges Music Festival and RockFest.
