The College is abuzz after the winter holiday break as Stage 8 of the building plan is well underway and on track to be ready for the 2020 school year.
Principal Mr Glenn McConville said that the College community is excited by the progress of the building, which will feature a geothermal heating and cooling system. A geothermal air conditioning system utilises the ground temperature to either reject heat, in summer, and collect heat in winter.
"Lots of foundation work has taken place for the new building and new Osborne Road carpark over the last few months," Mr McConville said.
"Over 40 'loops' have been placed underground to allow for the geothermal air conditioning, which will lead to the sustainable air conditioning of the majority of our student learning spaces and staff offices in coming years."
Stage 8, which is due for completion by January 2020, will feature 9 new learning spaces for the Middle School including large group presentation spaces and a performing arts area.
