Students selected for Creative Generation Art Awards

Ava Ransome with her chosen artwork, currently on display at the Brisbane Institute of Art at Windsor

Two Mt Maria Year 12 Visual Arts students have been selected to represent the North Brisbane Region in the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Arts. The Creative Generation Excellence Awards aim to recoginise and promote excellence in senior Visual Art education throughout Queensland state and non-state schools. Since 1990, the program has helped raise community awareness of the degree of sophistication in concepts, diversity of technical competence, and the high standard of visual art education in Queensland secondary schools. Each district across Queensland selects artworks that demonstrate competency in developing concepts, originality and innovation and an excellence in the use of skills media and techniques. From these artworks a selection of about 30 to 40 works are chosen and an exhibition of student work is held at GOMA and then travels throughout Queensland to regional areas.
