Class of 2018 Receive Outstanding Results

Mt Maria College Mitchelton Year 12 graduates have achieved outstanding outcomes with the release of this year’s Overall Position scores.

Results have seen nine graduates achieve an OP 1 or 2 with a 10% increase in the OP 1 - 5 scores since 2017, and just under 90% of OP-eligible students achieving an OP 1 – 15. Along with 98% of graduates achieving their Queensland Certificate of Education, a record number of students achieved Certificate I – IV national VET qualifications.

College Principal Mr Glenn McConville said: “This cohort has achieved superb results. It is due to their hard work, persistence and focus on achieving their individual and group goals. We are immensely proud of them.”

“The college continues to build on its improvement agenda.

“Special congratulations to four students who achieved an OP 1 – Edward Hassall, James Orman, Alexander Shaw and Maree Wilson. To earn an OP 1 is an exceptional achievement.”

Mr McConville pointed out that in addition to academic results, the Year 12 students had excelled in co-curricular life at the college.

“I want to acknowledge the excellence and achievement of all students in extracurricular cultural and sporting programs at the college.”

“Students have reached new heights in sporting endeavours, the UQ Optiminds competition, an international science competition, music and the arts with another successful musical production this year,” he said.

In congratulating the class of 2018 for their overall results, Mr McConville acknowledged the commitment of the teaching and support teams at the college.

“Thanks must go to our families and the professional teaching team and support staff for their expertise, dedication and encouragement which has allowed students to achieve these results.”

“Our vision for Mt Maria College graduates is that our young women and men develop strong minds and compassionate hearts and will contribute positively to their local and global communities.”
