Congratulations to Year 7 Mt Maria student Wesley Hinton who recently competed at the National School Sport Australia 12 & Under Championships for Golf, representing the Queensland team. The Queensland team collected all the trophies at the recent national competition, whilst representing their school and state with pride.

Wesley has a Golf Australia handicap of 9. During each of the rounds he shot under his handicap and contributed to the State's victory down in Geelong.

Wesley's coach is Chris McCourt, former pupil of Mt Maria Mitchelton and head coach at Keperra Golf Club. Ahead of the nationals, John Senden (current touring pro) and former student of Mt Maria Mitchelton gifted Wesley his set of clubs.

Mr Lucas Gill, Program Leader for Sport at Mt Maria, said that Wesley had been working hard all year to achieve his goal.

"Wesley should be tremendously proud of achieving his goal of competing at Nationals," Mr Gill said.

"He is an awesome example of what you can achieve when you stay focused, positive and show great sportsmanship!"

Congratulations Wesley!
